About BKV Pool

Who runs the BKV Cardano stake pool, why it exists, and how it works. One operator, three servers in two countries, 0% margin, since 2021.

Hi, I am Alex. I live in Poland with my wife and kids, and I have been running the BKV stake pool on Cardano since 2021.

I started BKV for a simple reason. I believe money should belong to the people who earn it, and that a fair financial system should not need permission from a bank or a government. Cardano is one of the few projects that takes this seriously, with careful research, real decentralization and a way for every holder to vote. Running a stake pool is my way to help it work.

What BKV is

BKV is a single pool. That matters more than it sounds. Some operators run dozens of pools under different names, which puts a lot of power into a few hands. When you stake with a single, independent pool, you help keep Cardano spread out and hard to control.

  • Ticker: BKV
  • Margin: 0%. We only take the fixed cost the network requires (170 ADA per epoch). The rest goes to delegators.
  • Servers: a block producer and a relay in Finland, and a second relay in Poland. See the infrastructure.
  • Monitoring: a public dashboard that anyone can open.

Governance

Since the end of 2024, Cardano lets ADA holders decide how the treasury is spent. I am a registered DRep, Alex BKV, and I read and vote on the proposals, with a short public reason for each vote. You can see my votes and delegate your voting power at cardanodrep.org.

Why this blog exists

Most people still think crypto is only about prices. It is not. It is about who controls money, who can see your data, and who gets a say. I write here in simple English, so that anyone, in any country, can follow along. If an article helps you understand one new thing, it did its job.

The easiest way is a message on X, @bkvpool. You can also find me on LinkedIn.

Thank you for reading, and thank you to every delegator who trusts us with their stake.
